From Calgary

Route 1

  • From Calgary take Highway 2 south to Highway 3 west - Highway 3 exit is just before you reach Fort Macleod.  
  • Turn right onto Highway 3 heading west, which takes you through the Crowsnest Pass to Fernie. (This is the longest route, however it avoids secondary roads and provides a good option if alternate routes are in poor winter driving condition.)

Route 2

  • From Calgary take Highway 2 south to Nanton,  at the far end of Nanton on the right is a sign to the cemetary and Chain Lakes, turn right at the sign, onto secondary Highway 533.  
  • Travel 9.5 kms west to 4 way intersection (no stop sign) marked by Holton's Corner sign. The highway takes a 45 degree turn left (south) and curves around to connect to Highway 22.  Distance between Nanton and Highway 22 is 40 kms via Secondary Highway 533.
  • At Highway 22 there is a 'T' intersection and stop sign. Turn left onto Highway 22 heading south to Highway 3.  
  • At the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 3 there is a 'T' intersection and a stop sign. Turn right heading west onto Highway 3 which takes you through the Crowsnest Pass to Fernie, B.C.
    (This is the shortest route and quickest depending on winter road conditions.)

Route 3

  • From Calgary take Highway 2 south to Highway 7.  
  • Turn right, west onto Highway 7 and travel west to Black Diamond, from Black Diamond take Highway 22 south (turn left at the Esso station in Black Diamond).  
  • Turn right heading west onto Highway 3 which takes you through the Crowsnest Pass to Fernie, B.C. (This route provides another option depending on winter road conditions.)

 

From Other Locations

  • Air access via Salt Lake City to Cranbrook Canadian Rockies International Airport (1 hr drive to Fernie) via Delta (Skywest) airline (seasonal service).
  • Fernie Alpine Resort is a 1 hour drive east from Cranbrook on Highway 3.

 

Ski Hill Location
#224 Spruce Lodge at Timberline

  • On Hwy 3 travel 5 kms past the Town of Fernie heading west and turn right at the Fernie Alpine Resort sign on the highway heading up to the ski hill.
  • Take the 2nd left at the Timberline condos sign onto Timberline Crescent.
  • Take the 2nd driveway on the left - stay right - 2nd building is the SPRUCE Lodge (green siding with covered front door loading area)
  • Do not follow "check-in" signs - no need to "check-in". Open free parking.

 

Alpine Trails Town of Fernie Location - 6B Alpine Trail Lane

  • From Hwy 3 turn right (heading west) onto Cedar Avenue before you cross the bridge at the entrance to town.
  • Follow Cedar Avenue (it curves) up to a 'T' intersection and turn right onto Alpine Trail
  • Take 1st left off Alpine Trail onto Alpine Trail Crescent
  • Take 1st left off Alpine Trail Crescent through gates onto Alpine Trail Lane
  • 6B is on the right side, halfway down to a dead end
  • Please park on the LEFT side of the driveway.
